#121 Coachella

Last weekend Alexis and I braved the 107 degree heat of Indio, California, for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. On Saturday, we enjoyed sets from The Rapture, Hieroglyphics, Savath and Savalas and The (International) Noise Conspiracy. A raucus set from newly reunited rockers The Pixies was one of the evening's highlights. Kraftwerk, performed a cooly calculated and pristine set complete with gorgeous projections and, of couse, robots. We missed out on most of the set from headliners Radiohead because of the compelling sounds of hip-hop duo Eyedea & Abilities.

Sunday, only barely recovering from the heat and 4-hour line of cars exiting the fairgrounds, we showed up "early" to check the a sloppy, but thrilling set from !!!. Performances from Prefuse 73, Atmosphere, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, Belle & Sebastian, Dizzee Rascal and The Flaming Lips, drew our attention the rest of the day.

Despite the sweltering temperatures, I'll be back next year.
